I get tons of positive feedback from all of you web surfers out there and I really appreciate it. However, there are always going to be those who are never happy. Every once in a great while, I'll get a negative email and I'll get a good laugh out of it. I figure if I get a laugh out of it then maybe you will too. So... I'm going to start saving emails. I'll pick out a few interesting ones from time to time and post them here. Not just the bad ones, I'll stick all kinds here. The good, the bad and the ugly. Enjoy. To:

Re: A touch of class Uh... huh huh, Thanks! Danny Subject: Hello from the UK Date: Mon, 10 Mar 2003 19:38:52 EST From: Greenery2@aol.com To: "The Asshole in charge at Cherrycheesecake Dot Com" Hi Danny I'm sure you get a lot of mail generated from the opinions you express on guns and society so I won't dwell too long on the subject but I feel compelled to at least say something. There are so many holes in your arguments I could make a tea bag out of them. You pity us here in the UK because we have strict gun control. At age 28 I have never seen a gun, heard a gun, known anybody who owns one much less known anybody who has been shot and I grew up in London, a city of 12 million. We just don't have much gun crime! However, I visited the fine city of New York a few years back, within days I met somebody carrying a handgun and there was a report on the news of 5 people shot dead at a club in the Bronx. I didn't really feel safe there and no amount of weaponry would have made a difference. Personal experiences aside the facts speak for themselves: UK has about 60 deaths by firearm a year. US has over 11,000. The US only has 5 or 6 times the population. What's so safe about the freedom to hold a firearm? The amount of guns isn't really the issue anyway, its the general level of paranoia that Americans suffer from. You guys always think somebody is out to get you. I remember when it was the communists now it is the Muslim fundamentalists. Racism is endemic in the US. Your points about protecting your country are laughable and paranoic. Protecting it from what? What is your 9mm gonna do against an airliner landing on your house at the hands of a terrorist? What is your weapon gonna do against a bomb hidden in a car near your local mall? These are the dangers that threaten the US now, not an invasion, that's yesterdays war. The world is changing so put down your gun and start using your head for a change. Start thinking about the reasons why a group of people would fly planes into the WTC. Start thinking about a way to change that hatred and ignorance and misunderstanding. Leave killing and maiming back in the stone ages where it belongs. I don't know whether to laugh or cry about you. At the very least you spawned a reaction in me. My advice to you is to rent a very good movie called "Bowling for Columbine" where these arguments are put much more succinctly than I can, it's a real eye opener. There, I've said more than I intended already! All the best Vince PS Liked your website for the most part! PPS I dare you to post this on your letters page....with a reply of course

Wow, you are one giant fucking redneck.
I know JPFO has a fraudulent agenda. These guys are self serving money
grubbers from patriotic Americans when they are really following the
communist agenda. I was a founding member and these guys are using to
live a high lifestyle driving Mercedes and generally having a good time.
You should not promote them. Sir Martin Davis, I can respect your opinion
and I have no way to verify the statements that you have made. You might
be correct. I don't know their adgenda or whether they are money grubbers
or not. If it makes you feel better, I believe that they aren't going
to go to heaven because they won't accept Jesus Christ as their personal
Lord and Savior. Danny,
"...I'm a big fan you site. A friend of mine, who was one of our regulars when I worked at an indoor pistol range, introduced me to your site about a year or so ago and now Im hooked. I love the military pics aswell as the Dr. Strangepork ones. And I LOVE the wine cellar. You have an awsome page, sir." Thanks, Matt Hi
there Danny. I just wanted to give thanks for the great site. I took
most of the links and recommended your site to friends and family. Here
in Michigan we just got the concealed carry law approved and I would
like for everyone I know to carry, however most people have misconceptions
of guns. Hopefully they will begin to do some research into the whole
matter and quit regarding CCW permit holders as "shoot em up cowboys".
If more people actually read up on the subject, they would see it's
entirely the opposite. I've always been a gun guy and I really enjoyed
the hotties with weapons. I was wondering where you got the 50 cal demonstration
from. I am looking for a video like that for the M-16 I recently bought
(picture enclosed). Any help would be appreciated. I've shot it only
on a few occassions and enjoy it, but i have some reserve about what
it will do at the maximum range of 600 meters as the manual says. The
bullets seem so dainty compared to my SKS and 30-06 rounds I'm used
to. Well i just wanted to say thanks for the great site and keep them
going. We need more sites devoted to us gun guys out here.
Tony in Michigan As
the subject of this e-mail indicates ("Great Site U Got Here"), your
site is 1 of my all time favourites. Any good site doesn't have to have
naked women pictures on it and I agree with you totally.
James
I just wanted to tell you I think your site is great! You seem to cover
a broad range of interests that I share such as guns, girls and music
(I'm a Slayer fan personally) but most importantly your site has a very
inconspicuous name. I work for a company that I really like, however,
it is based in California and appears to be run by a bunch of bleeding
heart liberals who have chosen to block any type of gun related site
from their Internet proxy. I can't even reach the Daisy B.B. gun company!
As a comparison, I did a Google search of gay and lesbian sites and
found that not a single one was blocked. Your site is one of the two
or three that I can safely enjoy from within this Clinton-ista prison.
Thanks.

is an email exchange that thought might be interesting reading for others.

Tom, Thank you for your thoughts and I can certainly appreciate what
you must have gone through. I too am a veteran and not all of my comrades
are still with me either. I'm not going to compare my anguish with yours
to see who's been treated worse in life. What I will say is that I will
not allow myself to wallow in emotional turmoil as a result of bad things
that have happened to me in my life. What is the profit in surviving
bad things if I can't go on living with an attitude of thankfulness
for being alive? There is none. One thing that I've learned about this
world is that nobody really cares what kind of hurt I've been through
in my life and all my attempts to solicit sympathy are pointless. I
recognized the pain and suffering that the founding fathers of this
country went through and I was proud to raise my right hand in our day
and time, to give my oath to do my part in defending the constitution
of the United States. Hi
Angela, I read your article on net ethics in the 5/2001 issue of Yahoo
Internet Life Magazine and was so inclined to email you with a few counterthoughts.
Of course, if you don't care what I think, I won't be offended if you
stop reading right here.
It amazes me how some people get all worked up over the difference in definitions between "hackers" and "crackers". You and I agree on the basic definition of each that you presented in the article. But consider this. Would it be ethically corrrect for me to use my skills of breaking and entering to defeat the locks on your private residence, wander through your house, look through your underware drawers and then leave a detailed presentation on your dinner table as to how you can improve the security of your humble abode? No. It's none of my busniess and regardless of my psudo-honorable intentions, I don't have the right to be nosey and snoop through your stuff. Even though I have the ability to break into your place, I don't have the right, under any circumstances, to do so. The justification of hacking can only be accomplished through rationalization. By rationalization I mean where one one does something that common sense dictates is wrong and attempts to justify their wrong actions by manufacturing a "good reason" for doing so. I have seven web sites and I already know many of the vunerabilities of the sites. If I password protect a directory on my server, common sense tells everyone that I don't want anyone looking at it. Neither do I want anyone to find a back door into the site, snoop through my stuff and tell me about my security weaknesses. If I wanted people to see that stuff, I would have made a link to it plainly visible. Security is a balance of calculating two factors. 1. How many enemies do I have and how determined are they to break in and cause dammage? 2. Is the cost of security measures practical versus the value of the stuff being protected? I can't afford Pentegon security on my Dot Com income. I loose enough sleep already worrying about the people who could get in and do dammage without having to worry about nosey do-gooders. Being nosey is ethically wrong. The ethical way for a hacker to act would be to send an email to the owner of a web site saying something like... "Hey, I really like your web site and I believe in what you're doing. I'd like to help you by offering my free security consultation services. With your permission, I'll attempt to gain uninvited access to your site and tell you if I find any weaknesses." Overall, I don't see a big difference between hacking and cracking. To me, their both wrong. Thanks for reading Danny Everyone: |
